Preparatory Course for Refugees

Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) is offering a new programme for refugees interested in academic studies in 2018. The programme aims to guide 25 participants and prepare them for the start of a regular study programme, and to support their education including the German language, as well as the social integration.

  • Intensive German language course for levels B2 to C1 (On weekdays 08:30 AM – 02:00 PM)
  • Supplementary math courses
  • Participation in regular lectures
  • Participation in complementary study courses in social and cultural science
  • Intercultural trainings
  • Admission to the DSH preparation course at the h_da after completing the programme successfully - ( The DSH preparation course ends with the DSH exam, which is required for enrollment in academic study programs taught in German)

Duration: Prospectively 10.01.2018 – 21.12.2018

Costs: Participation is free of charge

Participation Requirements

  • Interest in an academic study programme at h_da
  • Direct admission / eligibility for higher education (HZB). You can get a preview regarding your eligibility via uni-assist database.
  • Completed level B1 German language skills GER.

Application Procedure

1. Step: Please apply online via uni-assist. The application deadline is 08.11.2017.  Once you are registered at the uni-assist website choose “Hochschule Darmstadt” and the study programme “Propädeutikum” in SS18. In case you already have an eligibility confirmation “HZB-Bescheinigung” from uni-assist, you may apply with this letter and your certificates directly at the h_da.

2. Step: You receive an invitation for a German language placement test from h_da.

3. Step: If you meet the required German language skills of a completed B1 level, you will be invited to a personal interview at the h_da to clarify questions and other conditions of participation.
